JB with the family

Monday, Oct. 10, 2005 10:18 a.m.

Friday was super duper busy so I didn't update at all and now there's a ton of stuff I have to ramble about again.

Thursday evening after work, we went to the Kose Sale again and I blew about S$200 on more cosmetic products - all skin care and no make-up. But I would clarify that S$136 consisted of my mum's grandaine night cream and toners. I ran out of cash (it was a cash sale) and my guy had to risk parking his car along the side and dash up to give me S$100. After that we wanted to have dinner along KimSengRd but cldn't find parking so we ended up at 1 of Selegie's coffeeshop where he had hor fan and I got the tao huay from the the famous place next to the coffeeshop which I didn't eat. Went back to his place and watched TV non-stop after that till about 11pm. My guy ate my tao huay - all of it, a cookie and some of his mum's cooked food. I ate air. *sigh*

On Friday, the whole morning was spent at the client's place. Brought along another client's work and managed to get through that as well before my guy picked me up for lunch. We went to BistroDelifr@nce at Chin@twnPt. What we had was definitely overpriced and nothing to rave about - the specials of the day (fusili and some other fancy named dish). After that, we went to the $'s changer to change some $ for Sat's trip to JB and then got sugarcane drinks at the hawker centre before he sent me back to the office where I spent the rest of the time going mad about the b@nking files. In the evening, there was a t@k@ sale so we went to t@k@shim@y@. Very crowded - students who had just finished their exams and pp who had come for the sale. Didn't see anything that I wanted @ co@ch so we went for dinner at Mos which was the only plc we could get seats. The queues outside the restaurants were ridiculous! After that we wandered around and landed up at Best. I have the S$200TakaVouchers which can be used there so we ended up buying the fan that my mum wanted and also a humidifier for myself. With the extra dry environment in this office causing my dry eyes to dry out even more and my skin to look like wrinkled paper, it's a worthwhile investment. Even if I change jobs, I can bring it to the next place or use it at home. I think I shall use all my credit card pts to get vouchers tt can be used at all this stores so that when we finally get our place we can redeem the pts for household goods. We also went to TakaFitness to check out the gym cos they were having 50% off their package prices. It was quite okay but the instructor there told me tt with my taka credit card I could get 7 free trips to the gym so I think that I'll just use these first. Dun want to pay S$122 a month when I know I'm just not going to be making full use of that. I think gym membership is going to be off the cards for me altogether. Further, with the ABNplatimum card, I've got 2 mths free acess to the a country club.

On Sat morning, I woke up at 7am. Spent the morning calculating if it was more worthwhile to drive in to JB or to take a MRT or a bus. Or course driving in would be ideal but no, no one wanted to have their new car scratched, defaced, stolen or have parts missing. So in the end, my guy drove his car and parked at the woodl@nds c@rpark which was a 13 minutes slow walk to custom. Thank goodness it was early in the morning because the queues were not half as bad as they usually are in the afternoon. We spent about 5 hours in just CitySq alone and my sister got frustrated that there were so many things she wanted to buy but could not because we were going to BKK in 2 weeks-time where the prices could be cheaper. We settled lunch at the HseofSundaneseFd which is about 1/2 to 3/4 of the price it is in Singapore so that went well. The food is really cheap! And my sister got 2 vcds (SkeletonKey and FLightpan) and my guy got 3 cds from the place. The rest of the family got hsehold goods like pillows etc which was darn hassle to carry across the causeway by bus. Dead tired when we finally got back to Spore. Spent S$7 in parking. Went back to my place where we all showered before settling in to watch those 2 vcds back to back. My guy said that now tt we have watched those latest movies, we wouldn't have anything to watch on our movie day (Wed). He also said that we should consider watching movies in Msia cos they are so darn cheap. The weekend prices are half our weekend prices! I think another trip to JB is going to be on the cards end next month though I want some private time with my guy. Maybe we shall go to KL in Dec.

Sunday, church in the afternoon (yay for late masses now) with my guy and after that back to my place for my mum's homecooked food. My sis and I hogged the xbox which my guy brought over and in the end, he ended up sleeping on the sofa for a full 4 hours! After he left, I watched the movie on 5 and then a bit of the channelU's meaningless drama movie to kill the time while multi-tasking with 1 of StephenKing's storybooks. Heard some scratching outside/on my window and was freaked so I called my guy up and talked on the phone. The scratching stopped.

I can't believe time is still flying me by. It's almost mid Oct - some time this year I was in the other law firm all excited about the trip to Australia. It seems like it was only a few months ago that we went to Australia. But it's a year. And I am starting to wonder how many more years will start to fly past me before I hit the big 3. And then it will be 40. And then 50? Life is really too short...and sometimes time is spent so meaninglessly that I don't know what is the purpose of life anymore.

I can't be having a mid 20s crisis now. I've got a lot of work to get started on now. Time for more morose thoughts later.

Here we go again
